You probably know this feeling too well:

You’re getting ready for the day -excited about having an interesting call with a potential client later on-, taking in the last sips of your morning coffee (if we’re being honest here, it probably won’t be the last cup of the day) while listening to one of your favorite podcasts.

The host is so insightful. You’re fascinated, inspired, and excited to start your day.

That little 50-minute audio (okay, you probably didn’t finish the whole interview, but who’s counting) made you feel like you’re 10 points smarter now.

Suddenly, that feeling again:

“This looks so fun, I could have a podcast of my own… or could I?”

You let the idea sit for a few seconds, just in time to see your first email for the day pop up in front of you.

The day ahead of you is looking busy, so you let the thought of having a podcast slide.

It doesn’t matter. You know you’ll revisit it tomorrow.

I know this dance too well!

benefits of podcasting for business

And while yes, having a podcast can be a hassle sometimes, the benefits make you forget any headache.

These are three of the many benefits podcasting can have for your business:

1. A podcast will increase your visibility:

Visibility, as the word itself explains it, means getting your message in front of more people. As business owners, especially when we work directly with clients, we need to have as much visibility as possible.

Because, how else will people know about you if you don’t show up in front of them?

Sure, word of mouth is amazing, and I have wonderful clients who’ve grown their business solely through word of mouth.

But if you want to scale -whatever scaling means for you- you need to get in front of new eyes.

The right eyes.

Enter your strategic podcast.

This wonderful tool will help you bring niche content to your potential client in a way that builds trust and prepares them to, eventually, work with you.

2. It will solidify your expertise and open the doors to new opportunities:

Visibility can lead to credibility.

It’s all part of a wonderful wheel.

The more people see you speaking about your topic of expertise, the more they’ll believe that you’re an expert.

Right now, people want to work with people they know, like, and trust.

As we discussed on the previous point, a podcast will put you in front of people, who will start to know you.

But a podcast also builds the like and trust factors.

When you show up confidently, consistently, and clearly, your audience will start placing you as their top-of-mind option.

And yes, even if you already have an established audience, a podcast can help you reach new territories.

Feel free to think big here.

Have you been wanting to make the jump from coaching to public speaking? What better way than having a podcast to show prospective clients what you’re all about.

3. A podcast solidifies your personal brand:

You may know a new, up-and-coming entrepreneur: Jeff Bezos (yeah, founder of that little company called Amazon!).

Well, this tech genius coined this phrase in 2012, and it’s become one of my favorite definitions of branding:

“Your brand is what other people say about you when you’re not in the room.”

And this is so true! We’re always doing branding, whether we’re intentional about it or not.

People are always building an idea and set of expectations about you and your business. That’s why taking control of the narrative is SO IMPORTANT.

With a podcast, you show not only your expertise but your personality, your unique point of view, and provide an intimate glimpse of how working with you looks like.

Don’t be afraid to communicate your business values, your vision, what sets you apart from the competition.

Did you know that Madonna’s PR team coined the term “the Queen of Pop”?

Yes, she took control of her narrative, used her whole brand to tell her story, and now her branding is part of pop culture history.

Yes, you’re not Madonna, but taking control of your personal brand, can help do the same for you.

Next time you find yourself daydreaming about podcasting, know that it can be one of the best business moves you make.
